IMMIGRANT DEFENSE PROJECT
The Immigrant Defense Project provides national resources focused on protecting the rights of immigrants caught at the intersection of the criminal legal and immigration systems. They offer widely used “Know Your Rights” materials, ICE raid defense tools, attorney support, and community-defense trainings that help individuals and organizations respond to detention, deportation threats, and aggressive enforcement actions.
National Immigration Law Center
The National Immigration Law Center is a national policy, advocacy, and litigation organization focused on protecting and expanding the rights of low-income immigrants. They produce influential legal and policy resources, Know Your Rights materials, and strategic litigation challenging harmful enforcement practices, while supporting state and local efforts to shield immigrant communities from federal targeting.
Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights
CHIRLA is a leading California-based immigrant-rights organization offering direct immigration legal services, an immigrant assistance hotline, community education, and robust organizing efforts. They focus on empowering immigrant families through legal representation, Know Your Rights workshops, policy advocacy, and rapid-response support for communities targeted by ICE or federal enforcement.
The TransLatin@ Coalition
The TransLatin@ Coalition serves transgender, gender-nonconforming, and intersex Latin@ immigrants across the nation, providing culturally specific support for individuals impacted by policing, incarceration, and immigration detention. Their services include case management, transitional support upon release from detention or prison, housing assistance, violence-prevention programs, and advocacy centered on the safety and dignity of TGI immigrant communities.
Barrios Unidos
Barrios Unidos is a community-based organization in Santa Cruz providing local support to immigrant, formerly incarcerated, and low-income communities through direct services such as food distribution, healing-centered programs, youth leadership development, and reentry support. While not immigration-specific, their community stabilization and violence-prevention work plays an important role for immigrants affected by policing and economic insecurity.
